Exciting things Happening with the Juniors
Friday Night Junior Night: Paul Tuffin who I am sure many of you know has taken up the position of junior coach/co-ordinator for the juniors on Friday night. The 2 sessions will still be run 5.30pm to 6.30 pm for the beginners and young players. 6.30 to later for the older players and more advanced players. Paul has many years coaching to his credit and will be assisted by our ever present and reliable parents, Graeme, John and Smithy as well as the involvement of our senior juniors when they are not doing tournaments. Friday night juniors will recommence again on the 24th of April.
JETS: Term 2 is about to begin again and with that will be the next round of JETS. Once the draws are finalised they will be put up on the North Shore website and you will be able to see who is playing where and when and go along to support our young players
Junior Development Squad: For those players who are playing JETS and/or tournaments. Are committed to playing tournaments and to squash. There will be one session per week run by James Green another club member who has many years coaching. The senior juniors will be assisting with these sessions and Paul Hornsby in conjunction with James will be developing programmes for these young players to help them develop and grow in strength. These young players will be training once a week on a Wednesday from 5.45 – 6.45pm starting on Wednesday the 22nd April. Juniors from the Friday night will be recommended and invited to be involved in the junior development squad.
Junior Academy Squad: Invitation into the squad for the top young players in our club. These sessions will run by Paul Hornsby with assistance from A grade players as available. This is the group that our junior development squad will progress into and working to be a part of in the future. There will be 2 sessions a week 3.45pm to 5.15pm on a Monday starting on the 20th April. The second session will be Tuesday mornings 6.30am to 8am.
We are looking to send our academy away at the end of the year to the Junior Nationals in Invercargill and any of our other juniors that are keen to attend this tournament. It will be a big effort both in training and also fundraising to get them all there but a task which I am sure everyone is up tooJ. So watch out for these juniors and support them as you can
