North Shore Juniors at NZ Junior Age Group Nationals

North Shore have had a group of 11 young players competing at the NZ Junior Age Groups Nationals in Christchurch on the weekend. With nearly 200 players from all over NZ competition was always going to be tough and now was the time to see if all the hours of hard work had paid off. Paul Hornsby was there to coach them. Kristina Henare was camp mum to ensure that everyone was feed no doubt. Aishah and Myriam Lotfy and Amira had also travelled down so North Shore was well represented. Aishah and Kaianne were both in the girls U11. Kaianne was the number 4 seed and Aishah 5th seed. Congratulations to these 2 up and coming players- watch out they will be chasing and beating many of the juniors and seniors before you blink an eye. Both played to their seeding and Aishah was the plate winner.

The U15 had Jared Menezes in the boys division and seeded 28th. The girls division was Dileesia Henare 4th seed and Myriam Lotfy 20th seed. Dileesia was 4th so retained her seeding. Jared and Myriam also played to their seeding.

U17 Boys Zonal Ali had a seeding of 6 advancing to the Special Plate round. Amara seeded 11th also made it through to the special plate bettering her seeding. Neither made the final round.

U19 had the most North Shore players with Akil Afghan 11th seed, Sean Hilson 22nd seed, Matt Bristow 26th seed and in the girls division Diya Joukani was seeded 8th. All players either bettered or played to their seeding. Akil making it through to the Special plate round but Diya certainly bettered her seeding winning the Special Plate

Congratulations to all the players on there efforts and placings. Whilst most headed home Akil, Amara and Diya are still in Christchurch and are now playing in the teams event with the Auckland team
